As Oxfam states: ‘Every week 11 million items of clothing end up in landfill. Throwaway fashion is putting increasing pressure on our planet and its people – it’s unsustainable.’
So for this month of September, Oxfam are encouraging everyone to join them to join second hand september and pledge to say no to new clothes for 30 days. I’m so proud of Oxfam for launching this campaign because I have already seen the hashtag gaining momentum on both Twitter and Instagram.
We simply cannot go on being so wasteful as a society and I truly have noticed 2019 is a year that thankfully many at last have awakened to this.
I absolutely love shopping on ebay, at markets and car boot sales to give clothes another loving home and I really hope this month many others also find the joy in this.
As you may have seen in my previous post I’m so happy to have launched a Depop shop with my Mum selling some of our much-loved clothes and accessories to make charity knot wraps for Christmas. Thank you so much for all your support so far, and you can find a whole new batch of pretties that we have added live on the Depop here.
So far, I’m absolutely loving Depop! The community is so sweet and I’ve already made so many connections. It’s also so wonderful to see how many sellers, vintage, in particular, have made Depop their full-time job. I had no idea! It truly shows how fashion can be three things all at the same time: social, green, and unique.
T&Cs: For all my UK buyers, I will be offering a flat rate postage of £4, with 2nd Class Recorded Postage, that includes eco-packaging that has been recycled from parcels I have had over the years. I’m also more then happy to ship worldwide with £15 to my international buyers that will including tracking for peace of mind.
How many of you love shopping on Depop? And how many of you are taking part in Second Hand September? It’s so important to spread the word! And please do share your Depop links with me below so I can check out the pretties you have for sale too!
