Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation- 0 Fair Shade- Review

Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation is a beauty product I have heard such high praise for in the beauty community, and so when I ran out of my current foundation, I thought I’d try and see if I would receive equally magical results.

Speaking of my current foundation, this was Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Foundation I picked up on a whim at an airport because lately, my skin is suffering terribly from PCOs. And I’ve absolutely loved using this foundation! It will definitely be one I go back to.

But the shade 0.5 in the Naked Skin Foundation was ever so slightly too yellow on me, even though the model for that shade is basically me! What really interested me about the Charlotte Tilbury foundation is that the shades run super fair, and obviously Charlotte, as a redhead herself, is very good at creating a true understanding of our complexion and needs.

The Magic Foundation, 0 Fair, is a porcelain shade for very light skin tones with cool undertones. Once blended in, this really was such a good shade for me, if not the teeniest bit too white, absolutely unknown for me to ever have a problem with foundations going slightly too pale!!

But here’s where the magic comes in: this isn’t just any old foundation. This is a foundation packed full of ingredients to give you both flawless-looking skin, whilst treating problem skin and boasting anti-ageing benefits. Here’s what makes it magic:

  • It’s collagen-boosting, reducing the appearance of age spots by 75% in just 4 months and the appearance of acne after just 9 weeks!
  • Concentrated mushroom extract that helps to make skin firmer and moisturises while Vitamin C fights any signs of ageing.
  • Hyaluronic Filling Spheres create the appearance of firmer-looking skin.
  • Ideal for flawless, poreless coverage, especially if you struggle with melasma, acne, or rosacea.

For me, it’s too early to tell if it’s helping my complexion because I only use foundation when I absolutely need it. However, what I can say is that it feels like a dream on the skin. It’s lightweight, silky smooth and somehow looks matte and luminous all at the same time. It blends like whipped cream on the skin and settles into pores beautifully.

The downside of this foundation for me would be that it needs a lot of layering for a high-coverage look. If anything, for me, it feels like a tinted moisturiser. However, this truly does add to the barely-there natural look that truly is stunning. It also has an SPF so that adds to the tinted moisturiser appeal for me!

Overall, I think all of Charlotte Tilbury’s products feel, look and perform like the height of luxury. Everything from the gold embossed glass bottle that looks like a Hollywood dream, to the beautiful way it is packed and enveloped in tissue paper.

The only downside for me is that I only wear foundation when I need a product to cover blemishes or anything else that is making me feel less than myself, and this needed a lot of building on, plus concealer. Ultimately over time, for the cost, I fear it would mean replacing it too often.

So, I might now embrace the gorgeous natural finish this gives to my skin and wear a little every day to see how it performs for my complexion, in the hope it actually sorts out my skin a little. But if you’re looking for something more high-coverage I truly do think the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation is my holy grail of the two.

Has anyone tried Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation? If so, what do you think? And if you have a very pale complexion like me, could you tell me what brands you love?
