Lavendaire 2020 Artist Of Life Workbook Review

Lavendaire 2020 Artist Of Life Workbook Review

With my first post of 2020, I’m wishing you all the happiest new year, and I hope the start of this new decade is off to a beautiful start for you.

I’m sure many of you have taken the time to sit peacefully today to reflect on the year that has been, or have had some time to do this reflective work over the festive season.

I must admit, I think deeply, I write deeply, and I live deeply, but I tend to document my intentions, thoughts and goals through my art and creativity and through writing in journals.

For this year, I was looking for something that could bring a potent balance of these magical elements in a journal and workbook.

So, this year I decided to purchase a workbook that would allow for a balance of reflection and creativity and that led me to the 2020 Artist Of Life Workbook by Lavendaire.

What is the Artist Of Life Workbook?

The Artist Of Life Workbook is a stunning 192-page journal and workbook designed to guide you through self-discovery and self-growth during one whole year.

The Artist Of Life Workbook is divided into two parts. One whole part is home to questions and exercises that are designed to guide you through self-discovery, exploration, and fulfilment. The other part is home to creativity and journaling.

Through a monthly reflective section, leading to a quarterly tracking system, the Artist Of Life Workbook will guide you through projects and goals, with time to review your progress and accomplishments.

You will find sections such as: ‘Self-Love’, ‘Current Me vs Future Me’ and a ‘Vision Board’. Within these sections, there are powerful transformative questions for deep soul-searching and healing.

I’m not one for resolutions myself, however, I am a huge believer in looking at a year and creating intentional action around it.

Having something as beautiful as the Artist Of Life Workbook guiding me throughout my year feels such a comfort and I cannot wait to use this tool in my life for exponential growth.

The Lavendaire Lifestyle

Alongside the Artist Of Life Workbook I also adore the ‘The Lavendaire Lifestyle’ podcast where host Aileen Xu from Lavendaire will help show you how ‘life is an art’ and how to ‘make it your masterpiece’. The perfect way to truly illuminate the magic of your workbook.

‘The Lavendaire Lifestyle’ is a podcast on personal growth and lifestyle design where Aileen shares weekly inspiration on how to create your dream life. From talks about self-love, empathy, astrology, healing and so much more.

Listening to this podcast is like being on the phone with one of your soul friends. Every conversation is so fascinating, potent and transformative, and a beautiful reminder of that feeling inside of peace and contentment.

In the back of your Artist Of Life Workbook you’ll find plenty of space for your own reflections and I think taking time to do so is an activity that nurtures so much of our heart and soul.

What I’m dreaming of in 2020

If you feel comfortable sharing with me, I’d love to hear your dreams and intentions for this new year and decade. To sum up so much of how I have felt last year, I’ve written a heart-riff of a post right here reflecting on 2019.

For me, some of my dreams coming into 2020 are to further strengthen and hone my intuition, spirituality, and magic for practical application and activation. Moreover, I really want to utilise these skills with my own personal gifts and share them with the world. A huge part of this will be Painting Music.

Other than that, I wish to connect more deeply with the people that truly get me, nourish my real-life connections and spend more time there, in person rather than online, and to move expansion into every direction of my life.

And ultimately I want my healing to be easy and exponential in growth, and that the moments of discomfort further teach me even more deeply than ever before what I need and how I can continue to heal.

I’m truly excited to see how this workbook can help create my dream life this year, from clarifying my vision to following through on execution.

How will you be documenting your goals, dreams and ambitions this year? And how many of you love Lavendaire as much as me. Do any of happen to own this workbook? I’d love to hear the answers to these, and everything else surrounding the new year below.

The Winter Solstice and End of Year Reflections

The Winter Solstice and End of Year Reflections

This year, I have learned deeply, with tenderness and sincerity, that there is something very powerful in recognising when we have reached the end of our capacity.

2018 and 2019 have taught me that sometimes the traumas we thought we had resolved in our lives will demand to be resolved again and again. And in these moments, I have tried to stop and consider how I can care for these vulnerable, sensitive and tender sides of myself that are expansive rather than constricted elements of my being.

And now, as I sail deeper into adulthood and self-honouring, I find myself entirely comfortable with honouring both lightness and whimsy, but also a space that also allows for grief, darkness and the permission to invite reflection.

Like the beautiful Winter Solstice of this season, this period symbolises that darkness always comes, and when we’re in it, it feels like it lasts forever. But it also reminds us that the light comes back, eventually. Slowly and gently it reappears softly at the edges, reminding us of this gracious balance that we seek.

In the meantime, I want to press deeper still for the whimsy and light of life that illuminates with more vibrancy when we sit with the darkness of our emotional life with utmost honesty and intention.

Whatever the new year will bring I want to attune deeper to my innate self-worth, feel grounded in my body, feel supported in owning my right to be wholeheartedly myself, sensitive, to care deeply about people and wanting to make a difference in the world, while having an unconventional lifestyle of travel, adventure and spaciousness.

Wishing you a new decade full of love, blessings and space for honouring yourself deeply always.

Before I go, I just want to thank you endlessly for being here with me and for supporting my space here. Being vulnerable enough to share my heart here means so much. If you would like to heart-riff with me and hear more of my thoughts and words I would be honoured to connect via my Whimsy Wednesday letter. You can sign up right here.

With love and endless best wishes,

Georgie xoxo

Birthday Girl, Life Lessons on Gratitude, Free E-Book & Exploring My Birthchart

Birthday Girl, Life Lessons on Gratitude, Free E-Book & Exploring My Birthchart

Dearest Souls, as you read this I’ll be in beautiful Sofia in Bulgaria for my birthday that’s today! So I should say, Здравейте, which is hello in Bulgarian!

This time last year, on my birthday, I re-opened my blog and wrote this piece about my break away from the blogosphere whilst working on Beauxoxo.

But to be honest, this trip around the sun has been one of the most emotionally painful of my life to date, but also one of the most beautifully transformative periods of my life.

I’ve spent this year diving into the deepest depths of my heart and making the emotional and strategic adjustments necessary to come into deep alignment.

So in my tender, transformed state, I thought I’d shared my perspective on this time of change in my life and what it has taught me:

Life Lessons on Gratitude

Whilst I sometimes have a habit of searching for light, hope and meaning in everything, it has also felt necessary at so many periods this year to acknowledge and grieve the darkness deeply.

I’ve truly learnt that once illuminated, pain can become something of a spiritual mentor, and the gateway to limitless living.

And over this year one other important ingredient has illuminated itself to me ever more powerfully: gratitude.

Moreover, I’m so used to sharing my birthday with the Thanksgiving period that tuning into gratitude seems so lovely and perfect to do at this time of year.

Gratitude asks that we tend to our most basic needs. That we then seek to find gratitude for the simplest of things. It forces us to slow down so we can listen to what is essential. It asks us to receive support when needed (though I must admit, this is still a challenge!) and explore what we’re feeling called in our heart to do.

Fundamentally, gratitude always gives me perspective, and it helps me to align with my heart and to find my direction in life.

But truthfully, there have been events that have happened in 2018 and 2019, and the unfavourable choices that come with them, that have sometimes been a blockage of my ability to see this at so many periods across this time.

However, it struck me that my happiness always stems first from gratitude. For me, nothing is as powerful. Moreover, the emotion of happiness is so synonymous with feeling grateful.

I can recall so many times when even in agonising pain I have tried to be grateful for what did work in my body, like the breath in my lungs.

But sometimes gratitude can slip into our lives in quiet and magical ways of oozing everyday happiness.

Just like this week, I was so happy to catch up with one of my best friends at a cold train station, and that happiness came from the gratitude I have them in my life.

And I was happy on a separate occasion to see the recent Pre-Raphelite collection in London I had been looking forward to forever, and that came from the gratitude I had that I could afford to do this with both money and time.

There are just countless examples that feed into my everyday. That’s why journaling and writing what we are grateful for can be so transformative. Because I truly believe tracing happiness back to gratitude, every time we feel that surge of joy, is a valuable practice.

And here right now at this exact moment, I am so grateful for you. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart for being here.

Below is just a little something to express my thankfulness:

Exploring My Astrology Birth Chart

Have you ever read your Astrology Birth Chart or your Natal Chart report as it’s also known?

There are many systems for understanding our personality. There’s astrology, the Enneagram, Myers Briggs (oh hai, fellow INFPs, make yourself known to me, please!) and many more.

But whatever method we choose to make sense of our ways of being in the world, and, as it has for me, can help us claim our gifts and unique medicine.

To know ourselves deeply and truly requires we be willing and brave enough to accept the parts of ourselves that the people most important to us once rejected. But when we reclaim these gifts we awaken and rise together.

Here’s the key three elements in my own birth chart. I’d so love for you to leave your own below!

Sun in Sagittarius

As I was born on the 27th November my sun sign is a Sagittarius. Growing up, reading my horoscope in perhaps some vague magazine or newspaper I honestly never resonated with being a Sagittarius other than my love for travel. But oh how misguided I was!

Those with their Sun in Sagittarius people are generally on the go. They have a love of freedom, and a disdain for routine. This is most definitely me! I so happily live that ‘life in a suitcase’ lifestyle and if I’m rooted for too long it brings all sorts of discomfort and pain. Interestingly, I have no earth in my birth chart.

In personality, Sagittarians are easygoing, making friends with people from all walks of life. They are also optimistic, idealistic, enthusiastic, philosophical, curious, fair-minded, and warm-hearted.

However, Sagittarius is a fire sign. This gives natives a generally quick temper. For me, I don’t resonate with this element of my sign at all! Having said this, any that do are as quick to forget what got them angry in the first place! We’re also known for our honesty and possible bluntness but again, this missed me!

However, like many Solar Sagittarians, the constant need for escape is very strong. This makes up for a huge part of my whole essence.

Finally, Sagittarians have an often blind faith in people, and in the world. We are curious people who love to learn. Their idealistic nature is hard to miss. Seeing as I’m an INFP too, the idealist personality of the Myers Briggs test, I can confirm this deep idealistic nature!

Moon Sign: Pisces

The Moon represents the emotional responses, unconscious pre-destination, and your self-image. It also shows you how a person expresses themselves when at home, at ease, and comfortable.

When I found out about my Moon sign suddenly everything about my character and my story seemed to make sense. A light lit up my heart and I finally felt such peace at knowing this deepest part of my soul.

Those like me with a Pisces Moon are known to be dreamy, imaginative and ethereal with remarkable intuition.

They can put themselves into anybody’s shoes with extreme ease. On the plus side, this endows them with remarkable compassion and love.

The downside to having a Pisces Moon is with this apparent ability to break down boundaries in that we can easily lose ourselves in the suffering of others.

These are perceptive souls who seem to be in touch with all the nuances and subtleties of human nature. Interestingly, other beautiful souls who shared this moon sign were two hugely inspiring ladies to me: Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana.

Like me, most of those Pisces Moon people instinctively know when they’re due for a much-needed recharge. It’s at these times that they retreat from the world (and its harsh realities) if only to gather strength to face everything and everyone again.

Solitude is important to those with a Pisces Moon, but they also need people, so their retreats will usually be short-lived. And yet, our empathic and psychic abilities can help them channel intuitive feelings and dreams into creative mediums like art, music, or dance.

If you haven’t already, I highly suggest discovering the magic of your birth chart just for your moon sign.

Since gathering this potent knowledge, I started to get help for some co-dependent issues I had attracted, my self-love and digging deep into how to navigate the world as a highly sensitive person.

Rising Sign: Gemini

The rising sign, which is also called the Ascendant, is the beginning of the first house in your natal, or birth chart.

Your rising sign is the Zodiac sign or constellation that was rising over the eastern horizon at the exact moment of your birth.

The Ascendant rules your inner child and your emotions. Therefore, you can feel and sometimes behave much differently than what your Sun sign indicates if the Sun and Earth’s eastern horizon were in different constellations when you were born. This sign is just as important as your Moon and Sun signs.

Those born with Gemini rising see the world as a place to learn. They are curious about the people around them. Sounds kind of similar to Sagittarius, doesn’t it? Well yes, but there are some important differences.

While Sagittarius seeks to expand their mental and physical horizons in a broad sense, Gemini is mostly interested in moving about in their social circles.

Those with a Gemini rising, love to ask questions, to move around freely, and to mingle. They can be considered to be restless and often quick in physical expression. So much of this is definitely part of my character. I’m happiest when I’m soaking up new information and learning new things.

Those with Gemini rising are often ‘seen’ to be bubbly, changeable, talkative, and a little quirky. I could perhaps imagine this is the first impressions I give off!

They constantly explain things, whether it’s their own behaviour and opinion or those of the world around them.

Gemini rising natives are given to analysis and making sense of their world. Their powers of observation are well-developed, they are mentally active (more often than not, their minds are racing!), and they almost always have something bright or witty to say. I definitely feel like my mind paces incessantly with thoughts of things I want to do/things I’m discovering!

As children, natives born with a Gemini Ascendant are often labelled as the intellectual, inquisitive, and perhaps odd child. I think this is definitely me but still now. So many of my hobbies and interests were most certainly ‘odd’ for my age, but I am beyond blessed my family always encouraged this uniqueness.

So in brief, that’s my birth chart! How about you? I’d love to know if any of you have discovered your own birth chart and what it illuminated for you.

I highly recommend Crystal B Astrology and Astro Style if you want to dig deep into this magic too! Maybe in the future I’ll create a separate post for this with my favourite Instagram accounts and podcasts. Gemini rising racing thoughts here at post-midnight!!

Goodbye to Beauxoxo….

Goodbye to Beauxoxo….

This post is copied from the Beauxoxo blog, but I wanted to have a keepsake of it on here before my website closes in August. Thank you beyond words for all your beautiful words of support and love,

Georgie xoxo

Original Post

To my community of beau-ti-ful angels…..

…..it’s taken me weeks and weeks to have the courage to publish this post, but it is with great sadness that today I am announcing the closure of Beauxoxo. Rather than abruptly leaving that announcement alone without any background to this decision, I just wanted to take to this space to share this heartfelt moment in my life with you all. Because when a chapter ends it makes me reflect deeply on the time that has passed and ultimately recalling what I am grateful for.

To everyone who makes it to the end of the first paragraph or the whole post, or just parts, my eternal thanks to you for allowing me that precious time.

My decision for closing Beauxoxo:

A huge part of the reason I decided to close Beauxoxo is that sadly life has thrown some challenging and uncertain times of late, culminating in being diagnosed with Scleroderma in early 2018, that is a rare, chronic disease of the immune system, blood vessels, and connective tissue that affects 2.5 million people worldwide.

Living undiagnosed for so many years started to take a direct toll on my work from the fatigue where I had to install a little place to nap in my office, where I struggled to get through photoshoots and markets with the Raynaud’s disease, to developing severe carpel tunnel symptoms made more severe on excess making days. All in all, the illness started to eat away at the job I was so passionate about, and the choices and compromises seemed endlessly unfair and without reprise.

Naturally, during this period I felt like I had been existing under a very dark cloud, and it has taken me longer still to grasp the situation fully. However, ironically, Beauxoxo was started full-time because during my last year of University because I was diagnosed with a benign Pituitary Tumour so I never imagined anything further would stop me.

But ultimately whilst my conditions accelerate at this rate I cannot keep up with the demands of the business. Whilst I’ve tried to treat both my body and business with the same amount of love and care I’ve come to realise that it is no longer something I am able to manage, and hiring extra staff and taking a back-seat business side to Beauxoxo has never interested me (plus I can’t do it, haha).

And so I looked at what my passions are in this life outside of Beauxoxo and realised how many other ideas I have always wanted to bring to life that I could adapt my condition to, and I’ll talk all about that below. Ultimately my dream is to save enough of my health to craft through a whole Mollie Makes every month, to knit more Miffies for my friends (whether they ask or not haha), to make more of my own clothes again, to ultimately having a new role where I can travel and see the world and work from my laptop seeking the restoration when and where I need it.

Final Sale and Closure Date Details:

What’s the end of an era without some celebrations and a closing party?! I’ve decided to set the date of 1st August before this beloved place of mine will close its doors for the final time. I will also be selling stock on my Etsy and anything left after the 1st August can be found over there. All my other outlets are now closed and this official website or my Etsy are the only places Beauxoxo can be found (except for some international outlets).

I’ll be sharing content once a day on my Instagram and Facebook where I’ll be hosting lots of special giveaways and exclusive treats.

In regards to stock everything I now sell is more than ever a limited edition piece and with regret I am unable to take on any custom orders or re-order further materials. I will be doing my best to update my website as much as I can as I go with everything as it goes and putting updates across socials. Hugest applogies in advance for any over selling issues and I’ll do my utmost to keep things updated each day.

I’ll also be working on some special deals but I highly recommend my Lucky Dip Bags for the best deal of all! You can also use BYEBEAUXOXO for 25% off everything.

Being a handmade business in a fast fashion world:

The fashion and handmade industries have undergone dramatic changes over the years, that now stands out as one of the greatest disruptors of the fashion business in the 21st century. There has been, at least, in the last year or so thankfully seen a huge uprising of the damages of this movement going forward however in the years building up to this, I’m sure I speak on the behalf of many handmade artists where I say we felt the pressure to conform to the trends, ways of business and 24/7 service of the highstreet.

But to me, e-commerce and retail have always been my second home (I grew up working for LUSH before Beauxoxo!) and I believe it should be a beautiful circle full of love and humanity at the core with fair exchanges for all and something that gives back in beautiful ways.

Since day one of opening my business, and all the years I spent at weekend craft markets, it has been the person to person contact that has been my greatest driving force, not wild profits and easy sales. Hand on heart, it’s serving you that that has been my greatest priority. It’s the care, compassion, inspiration, celebration, and community aspect to what I have done that has enriched me the most and I will take that spirit with me wherever I will go.

But again I’m sure my handmade artists know only too well how hard it can be to strike authentic meaningful relationships in the 2019 age of the internet. Social media is not as small and intimate as it used to be, and it can be really hard to connect deeply with the community. What’s missing in all the automated Instagram spammy comments, and all the overnight shopping convenience is the heart of what makes our experience as humans so very, very special and beautiful, and to me that’s the connection that deeply warms my heart.

My endless thank yous:

I don’t think words can ever truly express the gratitude I feel right now. Simply because there will never be words that fully sum up just how thankful I am because my thankfulness is perpetual and your support, encouragement, and even friendship over the years has meant so much to me. I could not have lived this destiny with Beauxoxo without your love and support.

So, again and again, thank you just so very much from the bottom of my heart. I cannot believe how lucky I am to have had you all in my life and supporting this journey I have been on. Your most heartwarming messages here, there and everywhere have always meant the world and beyond to me. You have no idea how much your kindness brightens my day and how getting to know so many of you on such a personal level as well has been one of the greatest honours of what I do.

Then there’s, of course, the unthinkably grand thank you to my incredibly talented team that have helped me out behind the scenes at Beauxoxo from day one. For this I simply don’t know where to start because Beauxoxo has blessed me with an abundance of an inspiring, beautiful network of humans who have shaped me into the person I am today and so many have turned into family.

From my breathtakingly beautiful models especially in heart soul and mind, to photographers and videographers, make up artists and hair stylists who made my fairytale visions come to life (and I’ve had some pretty wacky ones too!), to graphic designers and web designers over the years (especially big thanks to Bears Graphics and Marceline Smith for your countless support, time and patience!), to Paige Joanna, my soul and sidekick in life and business who transformed my social and inspired me beyond life, to Becky White PR who created such otherworldly dreams for my brands in its very humble beginnings!

To Jamie Stevens and the Clothes Show Live for giving me my great break when I was simply a young girl completing my studies with a dream of taking her creative dreams to the big, wide world. Not a day goes past when I don’t think about how blessed I was for that and how my thankfulness to you and Megan is everlasting.

To every single magazine, TV show, blogger and vlogger who championed Beauxoxo from the very beginning to the very end. You have no idea how much it meant, and how it never failed to excite and thrill me to see something I had made and designed to be seen in glossy pages or on the big screen. Or to be adorned by ladies and gentlemen I would watch on Youtube and through their blogs. For the latter, so many of you became close personal friends and it makes me beam with happiness to see where life has also taken you. This has been such a special ride seeing the blogging and vlogging explode in such mindblowing ways and I am honoured to have grown up alongside you all. A huge big thank you to Zoe Sugg and the Zoella team in particular for believing in me since the start. I will never ever forget your kindness Zoe and I will never stop being totally starry-eyed inspired by every single thing you have achieved and shown is possible for us all.

To UKTI, Start-Up Loans, my Japanese business team and advisors (especially Mana) to all my physical stockists around the world and to all my online retailers thank you beyond words for your trust in me, my designs and for treasuring my brand like you have done. A huge thanks to Etsy in particular for starting this journey all those years ago and all the people I have met through this wonderful place.

To Solent University for allowing me the chance to work and nurture the huge talent of your hardworking, inspiring young minds who it has been my absolute pleasure to see go forward living their own passions and dreams. Working with all the students and sharing their successes over the years is something I am immensely proud of and will always hold dear to my heart.

To all the incredible ladies I have worked alongside to help me expand my business to make my handmade accessories such as Marlene, Nickie, Lizzie, Sue, my big sister in heart and soul Kelly and all the other angels that have supported Beauxoxo over the years and who I so deeply trust and admire. Expanding in this way all those years ago was always the most terrifying prospect to me but you have always been the most patient, loving support in the world and I am eternally thankful to you all.

To my incredible mentor Angela for your eternal patience, wisdom and time. I will forever take your advice with me wherever I go and couldn’t have done this without you.

Finally to my family and friends, thank you for putting up with my mad world filled with all things bows and whimsy and for your patience and never-ending support. It’s this constant love and support you have continually showered me with that I have and will continue to, turn into the strength I need so that I can create all the impossible things. Especially my Mum, Dad and brother for going above and beyond for me always from day 1 until just this week when I returned bed bound and desperately weak from my trip but running around helping get orders out safely. Your unconditional love is my most precious gift.

What I will be doing and where you can find me:

Before I started Beauxoxo in 2010 I had my blog, Georgie xoxo, that was set up in 2009 during my time at University as a special place for me to document those pure, beautiful moments in life where I strive to showcase what brings me the most whimsy and joy in life. From pretty and practical everyday crafts, to recipes that nurture my body and mind, to travels from a heart full of wanderlust with a dream to see everything that this beautiful world has to offer. It also has a very, very mini shop feature!

I haven’t had as much time to be present on my blog or make the content I truly wish to make whilst working on Beauxoxo, but now it’s one of my priorities to always make time to document those simple wondrous things in life so that I can hold them close as the complete blessings they are. I’m in the process of still getting a lot of things up and running but please stop by my personal InstagramTwitter and Facebook for all the absolute latest details. In just a few weeks I’ll be starting a monthly newsletter with a very special free download or two!

Aside from this, I have been working on creating a business (now to be called Painting Music) that focused on helping children, but also curious humans of all ages, to discover and embrace the arts for as long as I can remember.

I truly believe music and art (both my original studies!) are two of the most powerful forces for happiness and healing in the world, and it’s my life-purpose to help as many people as possible discover this.

I actually announced I was going to be starting this project a few months ago because it feels like it’s been a calling of mine forever but I didn’t think anyone would care for it. I wasn’t sure if people would get the way I’m choosing to illustrate this passion I have for it by joining them together. The fact so many of you have reached out to lend your kindest support, or simply illuminate some inner curiosity to the subject means everything. Thank you beyond words for reaffirming my commitment to this life long dream.

Painting Music will now, in many ways, be my ‘new Beauxoxo’ but the nature of writing and this online project will allow me the flexibility my soul, body, and mind so desperately craves right now. The website hasn’t launched just yet as I’m committed to seeing Beauxoxo off with all the love and time it deserves but after August 2019 I’m so excited to reveal what I have and will be working on. The best way to stay in touch with everything is through my personal blog again Georgie xoxo

My personal message to you all:

If you’ve made it this far: I love you, and thank you again, haha. So let me finish by just saying that if you’ve picked up on bits of this post, or been here from the beginning, know that whatever life may have in store for you, listen to the voice within at all times, and follow your heart always. One of my core beliefs is that every one of us is here for a reason. We each have a unique set of strengths and gifts that we are meant to share with the world. There will never be another you.

I hope that life gives you the opportunity to realise your dreams, rediscover your strengths, keep your spirits and determination unshaken no matter what happens, and that with courage and faith you conquer everything you desire. I will always believe in you all like you have believed in me and I really hope you will continue to share your dreams and most beau-tiful moments with me going forward.

I’m tying this journey up with a big giant, oversized bow with endless love, blessings, and thanks to you all,

Georgie xoxo

A Letter to 2018

A Letter to 2018

Oh 2018. You have been the heaviest on my soul and my heart and I’m so sorry to everyone who has experienced 2018 Georgie. But conversely, on the last day of 2018, my heart is also heavy with love and joy for the abundance of growth I’ve experienced this year.

I leave 2018 very weary, but very blessed. I’m accepting day by day life is going to change by the heaviness of what has happened this year, but in acknowledging this, it actually means that my current blessings stand out like the precious gifts and gems that they are.

The negativity of these life changing diagnoses with all the unfavourable choices that come with it, although often very dark, certainly provides a contrast that illuminates the wonderfulness of the simple things in life. I’ve learnt that if I can see the darkness, then it makes the light brighter.

And as long as I take responsibility not to allow everything that has happened this year to cast a shadow, the disease can’t touch my light. Instead I’m concentrating on the fact that all the very small, simple positive things in life have become amplified in beauty.

Each and every wonderful thing I get to experience is a treasure to be prized and cherished. And this appreciation spills over into other ordinary things in my life. I feel truly blessed to find the gratitude to appreciate this and many other gifts life has to offer me.

For 2019 I just want my priorities to align with my true self always. 2018 has developed an abundance mentality in me which gives me leverage. I now have the growth  I need to maintain clear, impenetrable boundaries to covet and protect what little and precious energy I have available and also the perspective to avoid placing excess importance on trivial things. My year of restoration.

Leaving 2018 and this post with a beautiful quote by Audrey Kitching that is everything:

“It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed by all the heaviness and stuck situations in our life. Start trying to focus on everything that’s good. Count the blessings and changes in your life. Stay in that space for a while. Today is a beautiful day to start practising this.”
