Once upon a time….

Once upon a time, in 2009, I opened this most cherished online space in my teens and it has become my greatest companion ever since.
I have always felt immensely lucky that I have understood my dharma from my youngest years because it still hasn’t changed.
Simply put: I have always longed to serve my creativity, learn about the richness of the arts and bathe myself in all things serenely beautiful that I can then share with the world.
It’s time to live your life with more wonder and enchantment than you could possibly imagine, enchanted one!
Life wasn't always so enchanting....
I have always felt immensely lucky that I have understood my dharma from my youngest years because it still hasn’t changed: I have always longed to serve my creativity, learn about the richness of the arts and bathe myself in all things serenely beautiful that I can then share with the world.
However, consumed by societal expectations, I enrolled at University to study music and art history and that’s when my blog, and my online community really cradled me.
On my vert first day, I felt completely isolated and trapped on an academic path that was an alien way of being for me. I also wasn’t made for the University environment of parties, drinking and so on.
All I have ever deeply desired is peace, space and time to bring forth the creativity and imagination of my inner world.
And so, each day after my studies I entered into a secret life of all night blogging, reading about the arts and crafting things in my small bedroom at the time!
I knew instantly on the first day of University that I was not where I was supposed to be, however I was fearful to quit and disappoint everyone around me. But of course: I was not following my soul’s path.
To mute my aching heart during these early days of University I felt truly nourished by my weekend job at Lush Cosmetics where I worked at the very first Lush in the world in Dorset! Outside of this, I also taught the piano privately. Both gave me SUCH valuable wisdom on branding and running a business.
And so, at just 19 years old, I opened an Etsy shop and a Pinterest account for my handmade hair accessories called ‘Beauxoxo’ from my University library. Immediately, it started to mute my loneliness and comfort my aching heart.
I channelled every inch of energy I had into making my handmade hair accessories from bed or the very small desk I had in my University accommodation. And of course, my blog and Pinterest both became my primary marketing tools where I invited my online community into every single part of this journey.
It all started with a bow….
ADVENTURES WITH BEAUXOXO
At just 19 years old, I opened an Etsy shop and a Pinterest account for my handmade hair accessories called ‘Beauxoxo’ from my University library.
In fact, Pinterest was brand new at this time!
My Etsy shop, my blog and my Pinterest became my EVERYTHING and I poured love, faith and hope into these worlds and I was simply devoted to making this trio be the loving container that would support me during these uncertain times.
And hold me they did, because my blog and Beauxoxo created endless brand awareness that led to features in some of the most influential publications such as ELLE, Marie Claire, Brides and so many more.
As if that wasn’t beyond my wildest dreams, my accessories were then worn by Little Mix, Marina and The Diamonds, and some of Youtube’s biggest stars such as Zoe Sugg and Tanya Burr and many more!
Eventually, my handmade hair accessory business that I created from bed in my bedroom took me to 6 figures and a life-changing trip to Japan and many other countries to introduce my accessories on a global scale.
When success comes at a cost....
It’s deeply painful to look back on my youngest years and see how cruelly I treated myself.
Beyond my wildest dreams, Beauxoxo, the hair accessory I started in my teens, grew exponentially, and became the focus of all my time.
My daily routine consisted of getting up at 6am and going to bed at 1am to manage my business alongside managing a myriad of chronic health symptoms and depression at University.
I spent my days feeling tormented, bewildered, lost and deeply alone.
My only comfort was the success of Beauxoxo.
To the world I was brave, successful courageous Georgie and I thrived on this external validation.
In 2018 the cruel routine I had inflicted upon myself came to an abrupt end.
I was diagnosed with Scleroderma and Gastroparesis on top of a Prolactionoma, PCOs, Endometriosis and Dyshidrotic Eczema.
My specialist required me to take a few weeks off for vital tests and treatment and in a moment of shame I will never forget: I told him I couldn’t do this because of work commitments.
There was only one option: I had to sell Beauxoxo.
Then came an emptiness. What am I able to do now? What can I adapt my conditions to? What is to become of me and this swirling sea of creativity I want to gift to the world?
With a new life infused with silence and solitude, the tears would not stop flowing.
With it, it was starting to bring out the mystery of all of the pain stored deep in the crevices of my inner landscape.
With each day that passed, the Universe kept whispering again and again that it was time for….
A return to the arts….
