Flowers have been used since time immemorial for their immense healing powers that lovingly take care of us and settle a wide range of physical, emotional and spiritual concerns.
A wonderful way to utilise and work with flower’s most loving gift is to learn about Flower remedies that have been used for many years as a way to heal the mind, body, and spirit.
Flower essence therapy was discovered in the 1930s by Dr. Edward Bach, a medical doctor who believed in the connection between illness and spiritual imbalances.
Today I’m so honoured to chat with beautiful Mayke from the Netherlands who is the owner of Honey Honey Healing whose expertise and powerful wisdom will gift us with the knowledge and understanding of how transformative these elements from nature are.
Just last month, Honey Honey collaborated with Leneth from The Spiritual Fem, another Dutch beauty, on their Rising Woman flower essence collection that was equally as infused by flower’s healing powers as it was sisterhood.
This gorgeous set includes the Rising Woman Flower Remedy, a Rising Woman journal (hand-stamped by Leneth from The Spiritual Fem) as well as a loving Rose Quartz crystal in a drawstring bag. You can read my full review about all these stunning vibrational energies here.
I’m so thankful to Mayke for her time and for her beautiful words on these nurturing flower essences that can illuminate wonder and enchantment as we seek to find ways to calm the spirit and ease the mind.
Hi lieverd Mayke! Thank you so much for your time on my blog. Please can you give my readers a quick introduction to you, where you live and what you do?
Hi, sweet Georgie! I am Mayke, twenty—six years old and based in Leiden, The Netherlands. I was born and raised here and after spending some years living and studying in Utrecht and in places abroad, I came back to where I was always meant to return to!
After three years of intense struggles that started when I was a student but had roots in my early childhood, I finally started to listen to what the Universe had been telling me all these years and got back on my authentic path. Now, I make flower remedies to heal and transform people full time and it is truly why I was put on this planet in this lifetime.
You are the creator of the stunning Honey Honey Healing range creating magical flower remedies. When did your passion for flower healing begin?
Great question! I struggled with anxiety, burn out and panic attacks for years without anyone managing to help me. I tried everything and I mean, everything.
As I had always been interested in taking the spiritual route I decided to see a spirit healer. She told me to try out the remedy Mimulus. I didn’t believe it would help for a second! Until it did… Immediately a fire was lit inside of me and a voice told me loud and clear that was something that aligned with my truest self. I started studying, experimenting and made remedies for friends and family for years, just because I loved it.
After about two years of this, my sister asked me if I shouldn’t help other people with it and my soul started glowing. That’s when it all started.
What benefits are expected with Flower Remedies? Are there any risks?
What I love about flower remedies is that they will always meet you where you are. I had so many spiritual healers try their best with me but I wasn’t ready to receive any of it and so it didn’t work. There is simply no use in giving someone a way to manifest when they aren’t even sure what they want to manifest, you know?
Flower remedies will see where your spirit is at and start from there. They will heal you gently from the inside, slowly but surely. It is a beautiful experience that you really need to take your time with, which in my opinion is one of the many benefits of them. We need to take more time! There are no risks! The only thing that can go wrong is getting the wrong remedy from someone and so not feeling any significant change.
Can you take us through the process of creating a flower remedy for either yourself or others?
Absolutely! I do Flower Readings, during which I sit down with a client and we just talk. I ask questions, listen to what I am channelling and we really get to the bottom of what is going on. Sure, I can make you a sleep remedy but shouldn’t we also figure out why it is you’re not sleeping?
Usually, during these conversations, I already hear some things that immediately show which remedy to use. If somebody has a lot of unsolved trauma still active in the body, for example, I will immediately know to put Star of Bethlehem in the remedy. Sometimes I will think about it a little bit longer and realize after three days what to add.
My remedies are a blend of five to seven flower remedies and it all happens totally organically. I let ingredients come to me. Once I have a finished recipe, I create it. I do everything myself and don’t have any stock ready as high vibrational medicine like flower remedies won’t work as well if I don’t pay full attention to each and every one of them. I make the remedy, finish up the label and send it on its way! It is such a beautiful process each and every time and I love doing it.
Can you tell us about some of your favourite remedies, how you use them, and how infusing your magic into the world for so many to cherish makes you feel?
Yes! So, some of my favourite remedies are up on the website as standard recipes. The deep sleep is definitely a must-have for me. I take it each night before bed and it gives me the best sleep, the sweetest dreams and the most restful feeling when I wake up. I have heard of people using after a night out to feel more awake! And why not, haha!
I also absolutely love Amour. It is a remedy I created after talking with so many people who felt so insecure about their real selves. I knew I had to do something! This remedy creates pure self-love and this kind of magical energy that just draws people in. I put it in my water, my baths, my face masks — it is my number one ingredient whenever I need some serious self-care.
Making flower remedies for people is truly the most nourishing thing I have ever done. Whenever I get emails from people telling me they feel so much better after taking a remedy, my heart just skips a beat. We can all use flower remedies in our lives and to think people trust in me to make them theirs is indescribable!
Your beautiful Rising Woman collaboration with Leneth from The Spiritual Fem was recently released. Can you tell us about the inspiration for this collection? And how important it is to you to rise together through sisterhood?
This is a funny story actually, as we had been thinking about doing something together separately. Finally, Leneth reached out and before she had even finished her sentence I already knew what she was going to say and said yes!
From then on, it just completely flowed. Our phone calls were like three minutes long because we had already channelled through the Universe and we only needed to say yes. We were in total agreement over everything.
The inspiration was pure feminine vibes. We are both staunch feminists who believe strongly in women taking up space, raising their voices and stop playing small and so that is what we were really inspired by. We want big and bright and beautiful female souls to take over the world! This remedy will truly help everyone lean into their wild woman and let me tell you, she is ready to be released!
Rising together through sisterhood is literally always on my mind and probably my number one vibe in whatever I do. I am endlessly inspired by women! My female friendships, the way we support each other in everything, is what gives me the strength to do everything.
For so long we have been programmed to only ever see other women as competition, as people to rail against, as backstabbers who you couldn’t trust. You knew you were cool when you were one of the guys! And yet we have managed to rise above all this social condition, the examples we have seen.
No matter what the world tries to tell us, women always find each other, always connect, always build and rise and love. It just shows our strength, our resilience, our deep connection and it is my number one inspiration.
You offer flower reading services for your online business. I know many of my readers are interested in getting started with flower remedies (even more after this interview I’m sure!) and would love to know what to expect. Can you please tell my readers about your flower readings?
A flower reading gives us a chance to really get to the bottom of what is going on. We usually have a massive blind spot for what we are struggling with, a surviving mechanism, I suspect, and I can help locate and name it.
People will start the session saying, I just don’t know what my next step should be and end the session with a clear view of what they want and the realisation that they knew this all along but just needed someone else to get it out.
After that, I make you a unique remedy that perfectly fits into what you need and that was made with only you in mind. Your own personal flower blend. How crazy beautiful is that? It is is a really magical experience, people usually tell me they already feel so much better after the ready and that’s before they even try the flower remedy! It gives you guidance without ever losing agency and that’s its strength.
What other routines and rituals outside of flower remedies for the soul do you practise each day/on a regular basis that help you feel connected to both yourself and the world around you?
Finding out what makes my heart light up and trying to build my life around that. I spent so much of my life trying to please other people, hiding what I truly loved and feeling ashamed of all that made me me. No more! I say what I want and need out loud and try my best to make that happen. For me, this means taking cosy naps, going out into nature, lighting expensive candles whenever I want, taking flower and crystal baths, drinking champagne in the sun and going out for breakfast with my friends. I also meditate at least half an hour every day and make time to be alone. This is how I recharge!
Describe yourself or your values in 3 words:
Staying true to yourself, seeing yourself as part of the collective instead of as an island and having fun!
Finally Mayke, what is your one wish for the world?
Less frickin’ pressure. Do what you have to and then do what you want! This will create so much space, energetically and actual for real physical space. To just be, to chill, to wait and see, to let things come to you. This is what I wish!
Dank u wel beautiful Mayke for taking the time to bless this space of mine with all her gorgeous words about how flower essence therapy can transform our lives.
If, like me, you take a lot of medication and want to seek a way to balance your emotions and spirits, I couldn’t recommend flower essence therapy more. It truly transformed my life.
Flowers truly are one of the most sacred gifts our Earth gives life to.
Not only are they a vessel for the remarkable reproductive power of plants, arguably the most fundamental layer of ecological life on the planet, but they are also responsible for the food we eat and so many other gifts our daily life holds.
But beyond this, how special to know that they also have the greatest life-creating capacity to hold us when we seek equilibrium in our mind and soul. From calming our daily stresses, to filling our hearts with love, nourishing our nervous system, and allowing us to rise into our greatest powers.
I really hope you have enjoyed reading this interview with Mayke from Honey Honey.
So now it’s over to you: how many of know of, or have used flower essence therapy? Is it something you would like to use? What were your takeaways? Please let me know in the comments below so I can dive into this potency with you all.
Finally, I’m going to leave you with this enchanting quote that truly symbolises all the alchemy that flowers gift us with:
The Elders have asked that the morning after every full moon at 10:00 AM that we gather and that we go outside and we look to the Sun, to the flowers, and to the heart of the earth…In doing so we bring more solar energy and flower wisdom to the earth, because the next age is the Age of Flowers. Flowers are our medicine for the next age. ~ Ven. Dhyana Ywahoo
