Today I fancied a different style of post so I’m showing you my favourite perfumes alongside a tour of my Dressing Table.
Fragrance is like a magical elixir that is so potent in its ability to create memories, to help us light up a room, and make us feel irresistible.
Isn’t it incredible to imagine that an invisible, droplet from our favourite perfumes can in turn help to transform us like this?
I really adore the history of perfume as well as perfume’s significance in our everyday.
If this is an equally fascinating topic for you I highly recommend my Lush Renaissance Spa Treatment post. It was a truly immersive experience in scent and sound and one I will never forget.
For now, I’m sharing my favourite perfumes with you all and I hope you enjoy reading about them and potentially find some new favourites (for reference: I’m besotted by vanilla!).
My Perfume Collection
At the end of the post, I’ll be sharing some of the features of my dressing table that I love to store my perfumes on.
Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise
I’m going to start this post with my favourite fragrance of all time: Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise.
This perfume is my signature scent. I’m a complete vanilla fiend and this delicious, decadent, divine perfume is everything and more I could want from a fragrance.
It’s dreamy for the daytime, for evenings, special occasions and for snuggle times at home.
It’s both wholesome and takes you away to an exotic island at the same time and it really takes a gifted perfumer to create these different worlds.
Vanille Exquise is a sensual caress of vanilla and almond sublimated with gaiac wood with benzoin, and white musk.
If you happen to stop by an Annick Goutal counter or boutique and love vanilla, I can wholeheartedly recommend this one!
Vera Wang Princess
This perfume holds so much nostalgia with its super girly bejewelled top and beautifully cut glass heart.
Like so many I’m sure, Vera Wang Princess was one of my first perfumes and so I’ll always be a bit sentimental towards it.
This one is very, very sweet and I think Vanille Exquise has become my more coming of age version of this!
Princess includes a royal, enchanting blend of waterlily, apple, mandarin meringue, golden apricot skin, dark chocolate, amber, musk, and vanilla. Sounds completely irresistible, doesn’t it?
I forgot to add this to my main photos but I couldn’t leave this out of my favourite perfume posts.
Simply called Miu Miu, this youthful, colourful, sophisticated and unique fragrance truly is the epitome of the Italian fashion house.
It’s a very modern sultry blend of Lily of the Valley twisted with Akigalawood, making this one gorgeous heady spicy floral perfume.
I think this is probably one of the most grown-up scents I own, and one I keep for autumn and winter as the woodiness is like putting on a big cosy knit jumper drinking warming tea by the glow of the fire.
Like the fragrance itself, the Miu Miu bottle is also oh-so-modern and cool. And have you seen the gorgeous advert?!
With its sensual, soft blue-pillowed opaque glass bottle, the red disk on the cap then gives it a playful, graphic quality that is both youthful and feminine.
Anna Sui Fantasia
Oh Anna Sui perfumes. ALL the nostalgia!
I want to hear from all of my 90s and 00s kids reading this. Growing up, who didn’t swoon over the Anna Sui beauty and fragrance range?
Growing up Sui Love and Dolly Girl were my signature fragrances and I was head over heels in love with the packaging as much as I was in love with the scent. In fact, I do believe Sui Love was my first fragrance ever, and I’m so sad it’s no longer around. I certainly have all the old bottles still!
Anna Sui describes the Fantasia wearer as ‘a fun-loving woman who loves to live in her own fantasy land. She is crazy, endearing and eccentric with a soft spot for all things ornate.’ It’s like she read my mind!
Combined with its whimsical bottle, the scent is equally as magical.
With a mystical blend of pink polemo potion, heated up with spicy facets of pink pepper and sensual cassis. This fuses with mouth-watering raspberry praline melted over the floral core, with an earthy base of cedarwood and cypress.
This is sweet but also the deep earthy tones make this my sparkling fragrance for evenings and fancy events. It always makes me feel extra whimsy!
Snow’ella by Zoella
Well, this is technically a Body Mist but I keep this proudly on my perfume dressing table because I love it so much.
With notes of mint, cranberry, peony and pink pepper Snow’ella is a fresh, fruity fragrance that although has quintessential festive fragrance notes, has a floral sweetness that makes this ideal for everyday wear throughout the season.
I really am so in love with this and love spritzing it on after shower and baths as it’s so easy to wear.
Annick Goutal Songes
If Annick Goutal’s Vanille Exquise is my daily scent in autumn and winter then Songes is my spring and summer scent.
This beautiful scent was a Christmas present from one of my best friends and so it means even more to me as a result. I think of him every single time I wear it.
Songes is described as being voluptuous and sensual, and an invitation to travel to an exotic island. However, it also has a mesmerising powdery quality that is enhanced by a dizzy mix of tiare and frangipani to take you into nightfall.
I just adore wearing this scent at this time of year. It’s a truly dreamy mix of Frangipani flower, Tiare flower, Sambac Jasmine absolute, Ylang-Ylang absolute, Benjoin, Bourbon Vanilla absolute with spices Patchouli, Cinnamon, Cumin, Black Pepper.
If vanilla alone isn’t your thing but you’re after a spicy floral, I think Songes will captivate you.
Betsey Johnson Perfume
So we’re about to get really far down memory lane with my final perfume mention.
Sadly, this one is far past its best, but I just love it so much I had to mention it (and I have purchased several bottles of it over time so I keep this last bit as a souvenir! Sentimental, moi? haha).
This is Betsey Johnson’s first self-titled perfume released in 2006. With its decadent top and sultry curved bottle, it is a scent both blooming and colourful with notes of pear, tangerine, grapefruit, blackcurrant, freesia, lily of the valley, red apple, cedarwood, sandalwood, praline, amber, and musks.
Growing up both Betsey Johnson and Anna Sui were my favourite fashion designers and I still love them just as much now.
I can remember so fondly picking this up in Floral St in Covent Garden where Betsey Johnson’s UK flagship boutique was.
I had saved up so much money from Lush for it and it really takes me back to that period of my life.
My Dressing Table
When I’m based in Dorset, I really cherish to be with my vintage dressing table and mirror from my grandmother.
It’s a beautiful cream shaded triple mirror with ornate rococo style detailing and matches the rest of my furniture.
On the left-hand side of my dressing table mirror, I have a trio of beauties.
The first is a teeny tiny knitted angel from Russia. Angels mean a great deal to me and their significance has always been very present in my life.
The second angel I have is this pretty shell design from Barbados. She really takes me back to The Caribbean and it was so special to meet the lady who made her as well.
Finally, my beautiful Elizabeth Bennet figurine from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I purchased this in Bath and it is a reminder of my favourite author and one of my favourite novels of all time.
On the right-hand side of my dressing table, I have another angel from Barbados with a bird of peace underneath from my travels to The Holy Land in May 2019.
Underneath this angel and bird of peace, I have my beautiful Russian Doll figurine from my travels in Russia in 2018. She is so elegant and reminds me to move more in a similar way that she does!
As you can tell, my travels make up so much of the treasured items that I love to display in my home surroundings. How do you store your perfumes?
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of both my perfume collection and dressing table.
But now I want to hear what your favourite perfumes are. Will you please share them with me in the comments? I’d love to hear!
I’d also love to hear how you store your perfumes so tell me all about that as well, please!
Finally, do you have any specific requests in the beauty line? I’d love to hear from you as always and sending you all so much love.
