Miiko Everyday Nourishment is a little bit of magic in the midst of Poole, Dorset, and I’ve been longing to visit ever since it opened!
Miiko aims to provide nutritious, medicinal and lovingly made plant-based food and drinks with environmentally and wellbeing conscious undertones.
A true haven for mind and body nourishment it also has an on-site physiotherapy and wellbeing centre called Cadbury Physiotherapy. Here you can have access to Yoga, Physio, Reflexology, Massage and Life Coaching to nurture every part of your mind, body and soul.
Bournemouth has a plethora of vegan cafes and restaurants but Poole has some catching up to do, so the arrival of Miiko has been so eagerly awaited!
The difference between Miiko and other cafes locally is that Miiko is all about nourishing, tasty wholefoods that fuel the body, heart and soul. So here you will find plant-based, dairy-free, vegan, and also gluten-free food all under one roof!
From tropical smoothie bowls to a wealth of hot and cold artisan drinks, to toast covered with delicious sounding toppings and more. You’ll also find freshly baked cakes, salads, pre-made juices and energy balls always on display.
Miiko Magical Elixirs
Visually you may think the below is a Beetroot Latte but I love that Miiko is calling it an elixir. So what is an elixir exactly? An elixir is a sweet liquid that is used for medicinal purposes. Nowadays the word has been expanded and altered for a culinary nutrition context. For Miiko, this magical dairy-free elixir contains a powerhouse of sweet almond milk, ginger, cinnamon, coconut sugar, brazil nuts and of course beetroot.
To make it look supremely spectacular, Miiko pour it into this quirky glass and sprinkle lovingly dried rose petals and lavender. The result was the most beautiful beetroot latte I have ever experienced! Beetroot is a fantastic base for a beautiful elixir. It is packed with vitamin and mineral concentration, especially folate, manganese, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium.
Miiko offer 4 of their magical elixirs in total: a focus maca creation, this dreamy beetroot, a cosy turmeric and classic matcha green.
I also enjoyed the soothing Miiko Focus tea blend. This tea contains chamomile, licorice, lavender and cardamom. These are all some of my favourite herbal elements and dreamy it was. Of all the herbal teas, any that has licorice tea is arguably one of the most beneficial yet under-appreciated.
Licorice has endless superstar elements and one for me is one of the only things I have found to help with my low blood pressure, so this tea truly did help me focus and get through my mid-morning slump!
A Miiko Breakfast
For breakfast, I picked the ‘Glow Smoothie Bowl’. This creamy, dreamy, tropical smoothie bowl is perfect for a morning boost of colours, exotic flavours and vitamins. The pineapple and mango added a tangy burst of flavour, and these nutrient-packed fruits are a great way of sneaking in some extra vitamin C. Topped with gluten-free granola, chia seeds and banana.
Before I left Miiko I couldn’t resist a piece of their freshly made, plant-based carrot cake! A traditional carrot cake is an absolute classic and at Miiko it’s been lovingly made with no nasties makes it even more delicious.
Experience the Miiko Shop
As well as deliciously wholesome, beautiful food and drinks, Miiko also boasts a small shop. From crystal healing products to yoga accessories, you can truly appreciate the wonders and benefits that crystals and other well-being products can bring to you.
In particular, I loved the candle and beauty range. In particular, the pillow spray with Lavender, Rosemary and Witch Hazel sounds heavenly!
Miiko is a really special cafe and is a lovely addition to the local vegan scene in Dorset so far. It offers something truly different from the other cafes and restaurants out there and needs to be savoured in every way.
How many Poole locals do I have reading this? Have any of you been to Miiko yet? Please tell me what you think in the comments. I’d also love to know if you have any Dorset vegan eating spots you love.
