Calling all Hello Kitty fans: this post is for you! But in all honesty, I think anyone who reads this will be caught up in the amount of cute that can be found at Tombo, a Japanese restaurant in the heart of trendy Fitzrovia, just a few minutes walk from either Tottenham Court Road or Goodge Street tube stations. With its clean and minimal interior, Tombo specialises in poké, matcha lattes, fresh sushi bowls and other scrumptious delights.
However for a limited time only, Tombo have turned their traditional pieces into Hello Kitty specials with matcha lattes, poké, cupcakes, cheesecake and so much more all showcasing Hello Kitty’s iconic face (but if we’re talking of loyalty Miffy has my heart).
And now onto the food! Are there really any words to share when it’s so cute it says enough? My darling friend Paige and I sipped matcha lattes with almond milk with a frothy adorable Hello Kitty face that is so sweet you just want to make it last forever!
As for food, Paige tucked into cupcakes and cheesecake and I treated myself to a poké bowl which, as you can see, is a complete work of kawaii overload! The attention to detail is everything with the courgetti noodles, carrot-shaped Hello Kitty and finished to perfection with a bed of rice made into Hello Kitty’s face. And if this wasn’t wonderful enough, the soy sauce came in a Hello Kitty bottle for you to take away. I mean that alone made my experience!
But in all seriousness, the food truly is so delicious. The poké bowl was so light but full of flavour and was just prepared beautifully.
If, like me, you are a little overwhelmed by now from all this cuteness, let me just tell you there is more. Because as you enter, you’ll find a themed gift selection that includes tea, matcha, mugs, postcards and so much more. But are you sold alone on the food? If so, be very quick, as this pop up finishes 8th of October 2017. Unfortunately, reservations are not accepted so if you want to go, head there early to avoid a queue.
